It is basically a book for beginners to understand indian classical music. The set also comes with 20 CDs with various samples to refer and to understand. I didn't get to see the CDs but it seems there are lot of hindustani tracks, some carnatic songs and some western classical pieces too. I am not sure where this set is available for sale. I haven't yet checked the stores.
Here is a picture of the book cover on the right.
Inside the book cover, it says:
A creation of Sri Aurobindo Society, Pondichery, Bought to you buy Times Music, Mumbai. There is always lots to learn in music. And the more you learn, the more you can appreciate music.
This book forms part of the 'Alaap' set. Not to be sold separately.
You can find the whole package (book + 20 CDs) in music shops. I have seen it in few Planet M stores. It costs 4900/-

wow I think .. thats pretty expensive.. but I guess it's fair enough.. cos the book can impart that much of knowledge.
ReplyDeleteThanks Shrinivas for the info. Yes 4900/- does seem to be expensive. But you get 20 CDs too which generally cost as much. I don't think I will buy it in the near future though.
ReplyDeleteYou can order the set from sri aurobindo society directly. It costs Rs 4600 a bit less than if you order from say flipkart etc. You can pay by credit card and the package will be couriered to you within 10 days max.
